Be cautious if an installer wants to charge for repairing broken wires in pre-wired homes. The basic alarm system will typically include up to three doors, a motion detector, a battery backed up control panel with keypad, an audible serine enunciator and a phone interface. Wiring to these devices is inclusive to the basic system even if the structure is not pre-wired.

All alarm companies, alarm installers and alarm salesmen in the state of Texas must possess a license issued by the Private Security Bureau of the Texas Department of Public Safety. If an alarm salesman or installer comes to your home or business selling or installing security alarm systems, ask them to show you their state issued license ID card.
